Matt Reineke’s story with carbon started as a bold idea and a secondhand furnace.
In the early 1990s, at just 25 years old, Matt bid on a 2,500°C vacuum induction furnace once used to produce carbon-carbon rocket nozzles for NASA. With no capital but plenty of determination, he saw opportunity where others saw surplus. When his $75,000 bid unexpectedly won, he turned that single piece of high-temperature equipment into the foundation for his first business — Nova Graphite Company — and, eventually, Americarb.
Over the following decades, Matt built Americarb into a global manufacturer of advanced carbon and graphite materials. His focus on engineering innovation, process excellence, and close technical collaboration with customers has enabled the company to serve demanding markets from aerospace and energy storage to industrial thermal systems.
An MBA graduate from Michigan State University, Matt holds multiple U.S. patents in carbon fiber and graphite processes. Beyond the boardroom, he’s also a licensed pilot — and like many entrepreneurs, he still seeks out new horizons in both business and technology.
